The Miniature (Mini) Aussie or American Shepherd is an intelligent working dog breed with strong instincts for herding and guarding. They are easy to train, enthusiastic and tenacious.
They are protective, devoted and loyal. The Miniature Aussie Shepherd is neither shy nor confrontational; any hostile behavior is a disqualifying characteristic per the AKC. They are classified as a high-energy breed, and require lots of exercise and mental stimulation.
Like most dogs, Aussies (and Mini Aussies) are active and outdoorsy, but still best suited to indoor living.
